Dr. Ken Blumenthal has been practicing medicine in Northwest Indiana since 1979. He completed his undergraduate degree at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina and attended medical school at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine where he also completed his post-graduate training. He is board certified in Family Medicine, a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and a member of the American Osteopathic College of Allergy and Asthma. He is a past president of the Porter County Medical Society and has received the President's Award of the American Lung Association of Indiana. Dr. Blumenthal lives with his wife Jeanne, an attorney, and has two children-Robert and David. He is the Medical Director of Camp SuperKids which is an asthma camp for children with asthma sponsored by the American Lung Association of Indiana. Dr. Blumenthal holds a Black Belt in Tae Kwan Do and is an avid golfer, photographer, and bronze sculptor.
Dr. Lauren Rigg grew up in Northwest Indiana. She attended Lake Central High School where she was an avid soccer player. She then completed her bachelor's degree from Purdue University and earned her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center in Ohio. She then went on to complete her specialty fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Rigg is a member of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (ACAAI) and the American Academy of Allergy and Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI). Dr. Rigg lives with her husband and two dogs. She enjoys being outside, spending time with her family, and reading fiction. Books that she loves to read again include Harry Potter and Sherlock Holmes.
Dr. James Turk grew up in La Porte, Indiana and graduated from La Porte High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and attended medical school at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. After internship he entered active duty in the Navy and completed his residency inotolaryngology at Naval Hospital Oakland and Naval Hospital San Diego. After his service in the Navy he returned to Northwest Indiana in 1994 to practice medicine in Valparaiso. Dr Turk is board certified in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, and is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology. Dr Turk has served on the Board of Trustees of Porter Hospital, including two terms as Chairman, as well as on the La Porte Hospital Board of Trustees. Dr Turk lives with his wife, Teri, and two golden retrievers. They have two children and a beautiful granddaughter. Dr. Turk enjoys spending time outdoors including hunting and $shing as well as hikingwith his wife and dogs.
Margaret Bazarko, M.S. CCC-SLP was born and raised in Northwest Indiana. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1997 and Master’s Degree in 2000 in Speech-Language Pathology from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. She has been an active member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association (AHSA) since 2000. Margaret is married to her high-school sweetheart and has 2 children. She enjoys the great outdoors by traveling, skiing, and camping with her family. She specializes in voice conditions in all age groups, as well as speech and swallowing conditions due to neurological and pathological conditions
Kathy DeCorte, MSN, FNP-C was born and raised in Northwest Indiana. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing form Purdue University in West Lafayette in 2001. Kathy worked as a RN in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago for 15 years prior to joing Allergy Asthma Care. She later received her Masters of Nursing and Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner degrees from Olivet Nazarene University
Matyt Adler is a certified nurse practitioner with over 40 years of nursing experience. Matyt received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1977 from University of Santo Tomas, Philippines, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Purdue University. She is certified in Family Practice in 2007. Matyt completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice degree at Valparaiso University in 2011. Her focus has been allergy and asthma with over 9 years direct patient care experience. Prior to her current role at Asthma Allergy Care P.C., her past experiences included over 30 years of pediatric and adult medical-surgical nursing, dialysis, CAPD, chemotherapy as well as patient care charge nurse and clinical resource nurse positions in pediatrics and medical nursing. She has also been involved as a nurse preceptor for nursing students in the Doctorate, RN, and LPN programs. Matyt is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Matyt lives with her husband Terry.
